Apple TV App Now Available on Android TV Devices

The Apple TV, which was initially known as the Apple iPod video on the go has now evolved into a smart television system. It is expected to launch in the second half of this year or beginning of next year. Apple has not released any technical specifications or pricing info about the product yet. However, Amazon announced that it will be bringing out its own version of the Apple TV in late 2021. So lets have a look at the competitive scenario in the market and how the two companies intend to fight it.

Amazon’s success with the Kindle Fire is a huge blow to the competitors in the tablet market and many wonder what they are going to do now. While Amazon has focused its attention on the high end gaming experience with its Kindle Fire, it appears that it is also gearing up to enter the smart TV market with its planned launch of the Apple TV App. The Apple TV will be available for a price of $99 and was able to install and run on many of the same devices that the company used to market the original iBooks. The only real difference it will face compared to its competitors is that it will be competing with devices that are priced between ten to twenty dollars.

Apple’s decision to partner with the Indian company OTV Charge comes as no surprise since it sees the opportunity for it to tap into the emerging mobile platform market in India. Although the service is not available in all the countries currently, it is targeting those who are using android-based smartphones and tablets. It is worth noting that Google had partnered with the venture led by Neotel in India to bring the very first free streaming television service to the country using its Google Cast technology. Although that service is still limited in the handful of states, it is a clear indication of how Apple will continue to expand its relationship with the third party device platform developers.

The other big player in the smart TV industry that Apple is looking to enter is the Android ecosystem. There have been rumors that the company will launch its tv app for the Amazon Kindle in late 2021. Whether this will be part of an overall app or be standalone remains to be seen. As part of an integrated service though, it could be great news for the devices that are in the market right now. Currently, the Apple TV and Android TV operating systems are not compatible with one another. However, there are still a number of developers that have made the conversion.

The decision to partner with OTV and its chief rivals in the mobile industry is yet another example of how Apple is positioning itself as a leader in the technology world. Its long term goal has always been to strengthen its grip on the smart TV platform and make it the de facto television solution for all devices. With Apple seemingly looking to expand its business into new areas, like the smart TV platform, it would only be a matter of time before we see other major players jumping on the apple train.
